Ray Alexander | Founder of CyberCash Worldwide

Introduction

Success leaves clues.

Finance Strategists sat down with Ray Alexander of CyberCash Worldwide, a website that teaches young people about how to network and run an online business through blogging. Alexander shared his thoughts on the past, present, and future of the company, as well as how his personal past and mindset drove him to create CyberCash Worldwide.

Who is Ray Alexander?

Q: Who are you and what’s your background?

I was born in Tokyo, Japan, and emigrated to the UK just after I graduated from University. I was an accountant for many years, but about 20 years ago, I leveraged some of my programming knowledge and started working as a web designer part-time. Through the job I gradually became interested in various aspects of online marketing; SEO, copywriting, niche affiliate marketing, email marketing, investments online, and advertising methods, for example.

I quit my job as an accountant in 2016. I call myself semi-retired, but in reality, I spend most of the day on the internet blogging and researching, I’m actually a full-time online marketer.

Q: Who has been your biggest influence, and why did they have such a significant effect on you?

My mentor, Daniel, is now happily retired. Almost all his life he fought prejudice and discrimination - he was bullied and never seemed to be taken seriously because of his race, sexuality, and autism spectrum disorder.

Daniel and I had similar personalities and I always looked up to his positive attitude. He quit his office job in his 40’s and pursued his career as an affiliate marketer online, and I followed in his footsteps.

“Working from home” is something that millions of others are already doing. They often talk about “being your own boss” and “freedom,” but to me, from what I learned from Daniel, it’s all about different communication skills. Some of us shine better through writing than through networking with others face to face. I’ve never been more comfortable than when I’m working in my own space.

(And while the COVID pandemic is a tragic event, luckily it has very little effect on my day-to-day life.)

Q: Knowing what you know now, what would you have told yourself when you were in your twenties?

Many things! Just to name a few:

  • Start right now and learn as much as you can. Get obsessed and keep yourself up because you’ve already wasted a lot of time!
  • Don’t force yourself to do what you don’t want to do. You are capable of finding your own working style.
  • Never forget to help others - working for yourself is not about just making money for yourself.
  • Don’t be easily persuaded by other marketing experts - follow your heart and think about who’s going to benefit from the suggestions that you receive.
  • Never quit. If you never, ever quit, you can guarantee that SOMETHING will happen at some point.

What is CyberCash Worldwide?

Q: What is CyberCash Worldwide?

The website is about encouraging people to gain confidence and run a successful online business through blogging.

The majority of “successful entrepreneurs” are excellent at networking with others in real life. However, some of us are just not that good at verbal communication. No matter how much we try, we just cannot keep up with smart conversations and often end up leaving the room feeling like a failure.

If you often feel that way due to any kind of circumstance (physical or mental disability, speech problem, Asperger's syndrome, introverted personality, or anything else) and if you think the best you can do is to get on with others and maintain your current position at work because of some perceived limited ability, you may be underestimating your life.

Can you write? If you can, you can build your own website, use it as a platform to have your voices heard, and monetize it. As long as you stay true to yourself, are honest with others, and are willing to help others by recommending products, your niche affiliate marketing business will start gaining trust and your trustworthiness will start generating profits. It's not going to happen overnight, but it will happen to you.

Q: What makes CyberCash Worldwide different from its competitors?

It does not stand out from the competitors. I’m 55. I’m not trying to compete with millions of other young, bright, and innovative online marketers. There are 5 things I can do;

1. Stay logical, fair, and unbiased.

2. Keep searching for new methods, trends, and tools and keep learning.

3. Stay open to any criticisms that I may receive from my audience as well as fellow marketers.

4. Help others to take their first step to run their niche affiliate marketing business.

5. Keep going as long as I can.

It’s very unlikely that enthusiastic 20-year olds would rely on the techniques and common sense on which my generation does. But I can motivate anyone in any age group to start making a living by doing what they love to do.

Q: What led you to start CyberCash Worldwide?

The original intention was different. Because I was an accountant and was investing in shares, I wanted to share my knowledge of how to earn supplemental income online and manage your finance online. It turned out that the majority of the audience either had a question on a particular cryptocurrency affiliate program or tried to invite me into one.

That made me realize that although cryptocurrency may be the way forward in the future, I’m not an expert and I’d rather help new online business hopefuls startup by using a program that’s more easily accessible to anyone and less uncertain (than the cryptocurrency market).

Q: What has the experience of building the business taught you?

I don’t want to sound patronizing, but I’ve seen too many “online marketers” try to make money for the sake of making money. For example, multi-level marketing/pyramid schemes. Or those who sell low-quality training programs dishonestly. I couldn’t run my business that way and be happy. It has taught me how important it is to be selfless with my prospects, even if I don’t get anything in return.

Q: Where do you see things headed for you in the next 5 years?

I expect the technology to change drastically in the next 5 years, so for the future for CyberCash Worldwide, I’m looking forward to any new developments that I’m going to learn and share what I’ve learned with others.

As for my personal life, I’m already very happy with my husband (who is a retired nurse) and my dog, living in west London, UK. Health, wellbeing, and productivity are becoming increasingly important as we get older. I have been planning to start a blog about it for a while now but struggling to come up with something that “stands out from the crowd” as the topics are already competitive.
