Fynn Trenkner | Founder of First Review

Introduction

Success leaves clues.

Finance Strategists sat down with Fynn Trenkner, founder of First Review. He shared his thoughts on the past, present, and future of the company, as well as the insight he has gained from running the business.

Who is Fynn Trenkner?

Q: Who are you and what’s your background?

My name is Fynn Trenkner, I have a bachelor's degree in computer science, and I have been interested in technology since I was a child. Since 2015, I've been running a YouTube channel, which later led to the website and our company: FirstReview.

Q: Who has been your biggest influence, and why did they have such a significant effect on you?

I can't name a specific person here. I have some great people in my private life who have always supported me. Of course, the first major Youtubers in Germany, AlexiBexi, Gronkh, and so on, influenced me professionally.

But especially when it comes to technical products, where it's a matter of one's own opinion, this can of course also diverge. And so it has always been a motivation for me to share my own opinion on products, especially if they don't correspond to the masses.

Q: Knowing what you know now, what advice would you have given your younger self?

I would advise myself to be more strict. You can have the best ideas, but if you don't have a structure, you always have problems years later. And not only for yourself but also in combination with colleagues. It should be clear which email addresses are used, where data is stored, with which companies and contacts we had contact. If you have this under control, you are much more efficient.

Business

Q: What is FirstReview?

FirstReview is our website, our app, our YouTube channel but also our company and our passion. We introduce and test products, help with problems of all kinds, and are happy to advise our readers before they purchase new equipment.

We try to present a wide range of products and always share our own independent opinion. So far so good, but nothing special at first. I think what sets us apart is ourselves. The partners and employees who share their passion and joy for the products and the cause with our users. We can't do without that, and that's what sets us apart from the competition.

Q: What led you to start FirstReview?

As already described, two people can test a product and come to completely different conclusions. And that is a good thing. Different perspectives and lifestyles contribute to this. And at the latest when you have the impression that you are not at all of the opinions that are shared by the trade press and the tech reviewers on Youtube, it is time to share your view. And we can see from the feedback and our success that our opinion can't be that wrong. That's how we started.

Q: What has the experience of building the business taught you?

Things don't always work out on their own, sometimes you have to be active, but if you want to make it work, it does.

Q: Where do you see things headed for you in the next 5 years?

Difficult to say, also because we are just starting some initiatives and we will see how they are accepted. First and foremost, we hope to reach a lot more people and thus have the opportunity to expand significantly. We will see if that works.
